The mission of JD Breast Cancer Foundation is to provide essential services to women with breast cancer by offering financial assistance, emotional support, and education to enhance survivorship.
Financial Assistance: JD Breast Cancer Foundation will continue to provide emergency financial support to women in active treatment for basic needs including rent, mortgage, utility payments, groceries, transportation, etc… to prevent women and their families from falling into financial ruin and to allow them to focus on their treatment. The goal for 2011 is to provide 125 women with an average of $400 in financial aid assistance.
Emotional Support: Through a Facilitator, JD Breast Cancer Foundation will host young survivor therapeutic seminars targeted at younger women with breast cancer and focused on providing both therapeutic support and fellowship as a survivor. The goal for 2011 is to provide support groups twice per month for an average of 8-10 women including babysitting services to allow those who are single parents to attend.
Education: Through partnerships with community supporters, JD Breast Cancer Foundation will provide an educational symposium in Fall 2011. The goal is to provide educational information to 50 young survivors on the latest in nutrition, integrative therapies, physical and mental health, and medical advances.
