On Wednesday, November 2, 2011, JD Breast Cancer Foundation lost one of it’s founders and first Executive Director, Dr. Robin Bartolotta. After a 14-year battle, she succumb to breast cancer with her husband and our Assistant Treasurer, Terry Cariglio at her side.
In the past 2 or 3 weeks her health took a dramatic turn for the worse, and little to no medical options were available beyond palliative care. God was merciful in allowing this last phase of her life to be short.
Robin and Jacqueline Dobransky were diagnosed at the same time in their lives and became friends who recognized a need for breast cancer support services for younger women. As survivors under the age of 35, they created the Foundation to provide emotional support groups for younger women and to educate them about new treatments and care options.
The women we have served are a direct result of her vision and passion. Our logo was inspired by her love of dolphins she often saw on her visits with Terry to Hawaii.
Her tenacity and mental resolve to beat her cancer and continue living were only matched by the care and compassion Terry gave her over the last 14 years.
We love and miss her but will carry-on with the services both she and Jackie wanted for younger women and their families.
