CLEVELAND, OH. – June 7, 2011 – The Northeast Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has awarded a $124,276.00 grant to JD Breast Cancer Foundation for Project Lifeline, a program that supports emotional, financial, and educational health for women with breast
cancer.
Project Lifeline creates a continuum of care by providing education, support services, financial assistance, and follow-up services for women and their families who are struggling with their breast cancer diagnosis and throughout treatment. Services provided through Project Lifeline target under-insured, low-income women, after diagnosis, or while in-treatment.
Grant funds will provide emergency financial aid to women and their families during active treatment within the 22-county region of Susan G. Komen for the Cure NEO Affiliate and includes directed outreach to Ashland, Belmont, Coshocton, Harrision, Jefferson, and Richland counties. Funds also support follow-up services to previous clients of JD Breast Cancer Foundation to determine any additional support needed. Emergency financial aid includes financial support for rent, mortgage, groceries, utility payments, and other bills to allow clients to focus on treatment-not an additional stress of bill payments.
